Item details
NewWhen you create or edit a listing, the Item Details form holds everything we know about your item — its title, brand, size, colour and condition, plus three fields that help marketplaces like eBay show your item to the right buyers: Department, Material and Size Region.
You never have to fill these in from scratch. When you add photos of your item, we analyse them and pre-fill the fields with suggestions — suggested values are marked with a sparkles icon, and you can edit or override any of them before your listing goes live.
Department
Department tells marketplaces who the item is for — for example Women, Men, Girls or Boys. It matters because marketplaces organise their categories by department: a pair of shoes filed under the wrong department can be shown to the wrong buyers or rejected when listed.
Pick the option that best matches your item. If you're happy with the suggested value, there's nothing to do.
Material
Material describes what the item is made of — for example Leather (80%), Polyester (20%). If the care label is visible in your photos, we'll read the composition from it, including the percentages.
You can type the material as plain text — percentages are optional, so Leather, Polyester works just as well.
Size Region
Sizes mean different things in different regions — an AU 12 dress is a US 8, and a UK ring size M is a US 6½. Size Region tells us which region your item's size is expressed in: AU, US, EU or UK.
This field only appears for items where sizing differs by region, like shoes and rings. For everything else, one size system applies and the field stays hidden.
With the region set, we can convert your size into the exact format each marketplace expects — so a buyer browsing in their size finds your item.
Keeping suggestions accurate
Suggestions only ever fill empty fields — once you've set a value yourself, it's yours and we won't overwrite it. If a suggestion looks wrong, just edit it; your correction is what gets listed.
